The Aylmer property lies in the James Bay region of northern Quebec. It consists of 12 map-designated claims covering a total area of 6.3 km2. It is wholly-owned by NQ Exploration Inc. and is subject to a 2% NSR royalty.
The property geology is dominated by mafic and felsic volcanics of the Eastmain greenstone belt, with interbedded sulphide- and oxide-facies iron formations. The Eastmain greenstone belt is bordered on either side by the surrounding tonalitic to granitic basement rocks.
The Aylmer property lies about 115 km west of the Eau Clair gold deposit, which contains an NI 43-101 indicated resource of 1 million tonnes grading 9.46 g/t Au (Eastmain Resources Inc.) in the same greenstone belt.
The entire region has been explored since the 1980s by numerous companies that carried out extensive drilling programs and detailed geological work. Many significant showings were discovered, including several on the Aylmer property. The best assay results obtained on the two showings identified on the Aylmer property were:

Zone Lac Elmer-Copper
Zone Lac Elmer-Zinc

2,13 % Cu, 0,1 % Zn and 42,5 g/t Ag
4,78 % Zn, 50,5 g/t Ag and 600 ppm Cu
sur 1 m at 83,3 m (W85-14)

NQ Exploration carried out two days of reconnaissance on the Aylmer property in the summer of 2008. A new copper-gold showing, shown in the table, was discovered to the west of the old W85-14 drill hole. A grab sample taken from a volcanogenic massive sulphide zone in felsic volcanics returned values of 4.8% Cu and 1.36 g/t Au. Two channel samples returned:

  • 1.8% Cu, 32.6 g/t Ag and 372 ppb Au over 0.6 m and
  • 1.88% Cu, 18.8 g/t Ag and 513 ppb Au over 0.5 m.

Old diamond drill holes were also located. The data for the holes was compiles and reinterpreted in preparation for future drilling.   The property offers excellent potential for a range of minerals, including gold, silver and base metals, in a geological context similar to that of the LaRonde mining camp.
